First Grade Book Reports

The Reader and Writer Ace

Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.
                                                     II Corinthians 10:5

So, you are back for more, eh?  Books and stories are a good habit!  Now you will even have more practice with "word pictures".  A "word picture" is a picture your mind creates as you read or your parent reads you a story.

Whenever you or your parents read a story, ask yourself ....

1. Can I see Gods providential care?
2. Why did God allow this to happen?

Along with the above questions, keep an eye out for the rascally villian in a book!  He is sure to pop up and try to entice the hero to do wrong or places snares before the hero.

At this point, a mother/father may wish to review ...

And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die .... ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
                                                                                  Genesis 3:4, 5

Remind your children that the above Scripture verse and others tell us the motive of the villain ... to be like God and to replace our King.  You may, at this point, opt to introduce new vocabulary words like --- pagan, infidel, or humanist (as all these terms hold essentially the same meaning).
