Third Grade Book Reports

The Reader and Writer Ace

Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.
                                                     II Corinthians 10:5

Do you remember what a "word pictures" is?  A "word picture" is a picture your mind creates as you read or your parents read a story to you.

Whenever you or your parents read a story, ask yourself ....

1. Can I see Gods providential care?
2. Why did God allow this to happen?

Along with the above questions, keep an eye out for the rascally villian in a book!  He is sure to pop up and try to entice the hero to do wrong or places snares before the hero.

Aw .... ma .... why do I have to ...

write the year the book was published on my book report?

8th Commandment:  Thou shalt not steal

Other writers published thoughts are protected by copyright.  This copyright law protects their work from theft.  You may use the written thoughts of others but you MUST give them credit.  As the Eighth Commandment states, we are not to steal which includes the intellectual property of others.  The copyright law is
based upon God's Law-Word.

know the publisher and the state? That's not important !

For the scripture saith, Thou salt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn.  And, The labourer is worthy of his reward.
I Timothy 5:18

In the future, the publisher and state may, indeed be very important to you. Is the publisher a humanist or a Christian?  The worldview of the publisher's will determine the titles they choose to publish.  This does not necessarily mean that a Christian should not purchase books which are produced and/or written from a non-Christian perspective.

Another reason to know the publisher is simply because you may enjoy the works they produce.

Remind your children that the above Scripture verse and others tell us the motive of the villain ... to be like God and to replace our King.  You may, if you have not done so already, opt to introduce new vocabulary words like --- pagan, infidel, or humanist (as all these terms hold essentially the same meaning).
