Learning to Multiply by 11s

Learning the 11s
 11 x 0 = 0  11 x 7 = 77
 11 x 1 = 11  11 x 8 = 88
 11 x 2 = 22  11 x 9 = 99
 11 x 3 = 33  11 x 10 = 110
 11 x 4 = 44  11 x 11 = 121
 11 x 5 = 55  11 x 12 = 132
 11 x 6 = 66

A fun way to get used to the 11s time table is to skip count ...

0, 11, 22, 33, 44, 55, 66, 77, 88, 99, 110, 121, 132

Be sure to practice skip counting backwards !

132, 121, 110, 99, 88, 77, 66, 55, 44, 33, 22, 11, 0

Give the answers, reading across the graph
 11 + 11 = ?  Two 11s = ?  11 x 2 = ?

Give the answers, reading across the graph
 11 + 11 + 11 + 11 + 11 + 11 + 11 + 11 = ?  Eight 11s = ?  11 x 8 = ?

Learning to Divide by 11s

Do you remember that the ÷ sign means divide?  When we see the ÷ sign we say divided by.  Division is a type of reversed multiplication. It just takes a wee bit of practice. (NOTE: 0 divided by any number equals 0)

Be sure to practice skip counting as it helps us to divide quickly ...

0, 11, 22, 33, 44, 55, 66, 77, 88, 99, 110, 121, 132

Be sure to practice skip counting backwards !

132, 121, 110, 99, 88, 77, 66, 55, 44, 33, 22, 11, 0

 11 ÷ 0 = 0  66 ÷ 11 = 6
 11 ÷ 1 = 11  77 ÷ 11 = 7
 11 ÷ 11 = 1  88 ÷ 11 = 8
 22 ÷ 11 = 2  99 ÷ 11 = 9
 33 ÷ 11 = 3  110 ÷ 11 = 10

Before you go on to the 12s times tables, be sure to ...

1)  Review your skip counting for all the times tables you have done so far
... frontwards and backwards

2) Have your daddy, mama, sister, or brother flash
you all the multiplication/division facts you have learned.
See how fast and accurate you can be !

3) complete the Multiplication Chart for
what you already know !
