Learning to Multiply by 5s

 

Five's trick:  Any number multiplied or divided by 5 will end in 5 or 0.

Learning the 5s
 5 x 0 = 0  5 x 7 = 35
 5 x 1 = 5  5 x 8 = 40
 5 x 2 = 10  5 x 9 = 45
 5 x 3 = 15  5 x 10 = 50
 5 x 4 = 20  5 x 11 = 55
 5 x 5 = 25  5 x 12 = 60
 5 x 6 = 30  

 

A fun way to learn the 5s times table is to skip count ...

0, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60

Be sure to practice skip counting backwards !

Learning to Divide by 5s

Do you remember that the sign ÷ means divide?  When we see the ÷ sign we say divided by.  Division is a type of reversed multiplication. It just takes a wee bit of practice.
(NOTE: 0 divided by any number equals 0)
