Hands on Activities ...
1) Blindfold child and have them do a taste test on various items like cereal, ice cream, banana pudding, tea, cookie, milk, potato chips, bread, etc. How was your child able to identify what each item was with out seeing it?
2) Have child hold their tongue and try, JUST TRY to talk (hee hee ... this is so much fun ... I'd recommend doing this again when the child looses their two front teeth ... what a hoot).
3) Talk about how important the tongue is to speech as well as taste. Go to a dollar store and pick up a set of "teeth" or "chompers" that one winds up. Use it (a) to demonstrate the importance of good dental hygiene, (b) how one cannot talk without a tongue, and (c) let the "chompers" walk off the table after you have wound it up to show the dangers of gossip.
4) Now is the time to have fun with some tongue twisters like "six sleek sheiks shiver."
5) Bitter herbs. Taste test parsley, onion, garlic, and other herbs. Re-read the history of Passover (Exodus 12).
