Book Recommendation:

Brightest Heaven of Invention: A Christian Guide to Six Shakespeare Plays, Peter J. Leithart, Canon Press, Moscow, ID © 1996

Shakespeare Oxford Society Home Page deals with the 200 year old authorship debate. Those living during Shakespeare's time, had seen the plays and the man, wanted to know who wrote Shakespeare? The Shakespeare Oxford Society will give 1st hand documents questioning the authorship of Shakespeare right up to today's debates on authorship. The purpose of the Society is to document and establish Edward de Vere, 17th Earl of Oxford (1550-1604), a court insider and lifelong confidant of Elizabeth, as the universally recognized author of the works of William Shakespeare. PBS Frontline broadcast in 1989: "For those who believe Edward de Vere [or someone else] wrote Shakespeare, you must believe in conspiracies. For those who believe the Stratford actor was the author, you must believe in miracles." Some have held Francis Bacon, Jonson, William Stanley (6th Earl of Derby), or Sir Edward Dyer really wrote Shakespeare. Others strongly argue that a group wrote Shakespeare, namely, Christopher Marlowe, Greene, Peele, Nashe, Lodge, Bacon and others. Wilbur Ziegler said Marlowe, Raleigh and the Earl of Ruthland was Shakespeare. Hmmm....... who or is that whom actually wrote those plays and sonnets?
