Prince Brat, (1994, Columbia Pictures Corporation) --- Based on the book The Whipping Boy by Aaron Sidney Fleischman. George C. Scott plays Blind George. (In the book one gets the sense that the timeframe is the Middle Ages, however, the movie presents the time period as being more in the 1600-1700s)

Rob Roy: The Highland Rogue, (1953. RKO/Disney) Richard Todd plays the lead role of Rob Roy MacGregor --- After 1715 clan defeat, Rob Roy escapes, marries, becomes a pest to George I of England, outlawed, and hunted. Actually, this movie could very easily have been classified under "Reformation Times" as Rob Roy (in real life) would switch from Roman Catholic to Protestant whenever it was more expedient to do so. Unfortunately, this is a Disney Product --- perhaps, rather than supporting Disney with your money, you may be able to borrow it from your Church library, local library and rent it.

Bonnie Prince Charlie (1948, London Films, Inc.) David Niven is Prince Charles and Margaret Leighton is Flora MacDonald --- Have you ever wondered why you sing the song, My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean? It is about the Pretender --- Bonnie Prince Charlie. Had Charlie died as a young man when he was perceived as handsome and chivalrous versus as an old man when he was an alcoholic, fat, and disheveled slob --- in short, before his contemporaries saw Charlie as he really was --- his reputation would have bordered on "sainthood".

Kidnapped (1995, a made for TV movie) --- Our entire family really enjoyed this film. Hopefully, it is out on video! Based on the book by Robert Louis Stevenson entitled Kidnapped.

The Three Musketeers (1948, MGM) Lana Turner is Milady de Winter, Gene Kelly is D'Artagnan, June Allyson plays Constance Bonacieux, Van Heflin is Athos, Angela Lansbury plays Queen Anne, Vincent Price is Cardinal Richelieu, and Gig Young plays Porthos --- Based on the book of the same title by Alexandre Dumas. D'Artagnan is a young noble that goes to Paris to join up with the Musketeers. There D'Artagnan meets his three buddies --- Athos, Porthos and Aramis. Hence, "one for all and all for one" (huzzah!). This swashbuckling movie is a fun and soft way to introduce events of this time period.
