The Scarlet Pimpernel (1982, London Films) Based on novel by Baroness Orczy with Anthony Andrews portraying Sir Percy Blakeney & Jane Seymour as Marguerite --- The mysterious Scarlet Pimpernel daringly rescues those intended for Madam Guillotine during the French Revolution's Reign of Terror. (A soft way to introduce this hideous event in history). Later, ya'll can add how the French Revolution leaders outlawed Christianity, had pagan worship, wiped out the years as we know it and began with year 1, etc. (I do not intend to teach my children about this aspect of the French Revolution until they are older and they have completed their catechism. Then we will do a compare/contrast between the Christian American War of Independence versus the humanistic French Revolution).
Waterloo (1970, Dino de Laurentiis Cinematografica/Mosfilm) Rod Steiger plays Napoleon Bonaparte, Christopher Plummer is Arthur Wellesley (Duke of Wellington), and Orson Welles plays King Louis XVIII --- The reason why Waterloo is placed under "French Revolution" is because Napoleon was in the French military at the time and helped to end the humanistic "Reign of Terror".
