Musical Comedy
I Married An Angel (1942, MGM) Musical Comedy. Nelson Eddy plays Count Willie Pilaffi and Jeanette MacDonald is Anna Zador/Briggita --- Count Willie Pilaffi dreams that an angel named Briggita comes to earth to marry him. The comedy comes into play with Briggitta's truthfulness. Willie attempts to help Briggitta be more at ease in society by teaching her the rules of courtesy. (This movie is an adult version of Amelia Bedelia). Okay, so this doesn't exactly fit in with historical movies, but this movie is too good to pass up.
