The Wild West Scavenger Hunt Rules

Beginning October 20th, in the year of our Lord, Anno Domini 1999, a new clue shall be posted every day, Monday thru Thursday, on the Wild West Scavenger Hunt webpage. Please note, no clue shall be posted on Fridays. There are two separate hunts, one for the Journeys for the Buckaroos who are not yet nine years old, and Expeditions for the Mavericks who are ten and older; so a separate clue for each hunt shall be posted.

To complete each task, the player will search for the answer using the given clue. When you have the answer, e-mail me, Coyote Caleb, and, using complete sentences and proper letter format, tell me what you have discovered. When I am satisfied that the job has been done well, I will send you confirmation of your success and a single, alphabetical letter which shall be used in a JUMBLE puzzle at the end of the Wild West Scavenger Hunt. KEEP these letters, as they shall be needed later.

The Journeys for the young Buckaroos has eight tasks to complete, and the Expeditions for the Mavericks has ten tasks; so the Buckaroo Journey will end on Tuesday, November 2, and the Maverick Expeditions will end on Thursday, November 4. On the day the last task is posted for each Hunt, I will also post on this board at 1:00 Eastern (12:00 Central, 10:00 Western) a clue for the final JUMBLE puzzle, and letter guides to indicate word spacing on this same puzzle. At this point you will unscramble the letters which I have sent you to solve this JUMBLE. The first person to e-mail me the answer to the JUMBLE for each Hunt shall be the winner of his or her Hunt. All of the tasks must be completed before you can e-mail me the answer to the final JUMBLE puzzle. All Buckaroos and Mavericks who demonstrate courage and honorably complete the Hunt will have their names inscribed on the Registry of Talented Rangers.

Here is a sample of a JUMBLE puzzle. You might have gotten the following letters from me, RTWAEPTAY, and the clue might have been, " I was a buffalo hunter, a lawman in Dodge City, a gambler, and a United States Deputy Marshall in Tombstone, Arizona, where I was involved in the shootings at the O.K. Corral."

And the answer to this JUMBLE is Wyatt Earp.

Look to our King, that greatest off all Trail Bosses, for your aid, and He will guide you toward honor and success.

Coyote Caleb
