Christian Duty

Mandates

Duties of Christian citizens ...

Obey God first ...
Acts 5:27-29 ... And when they had brought them, they set them before the council:  and the high priest asked them, Saying, Did not we straitly command you that ye should not teach in this Name? and, behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this Man's blood upon us.  Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.

Be subject to rulers ... Romans 13:1-7

Pray for Rulers ...
1 Timothy 2:1,2 ... I exhort therefore, that first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

Honor rulers ...
1 Peter 2:17 ... Honor all men.  Love the brotherhood.  Fear God. Honour the king.

Live righteously ... 1 Peter 3:8-17

Occupy positions in civil government ...
Genesis 42:6 ... And Joseph was the governor over the land, and he it was that sold to all the people of the land:  and Joseph's brethren came, and bowed down themselves before him with their faces to the earth.

Be true ...
1 Corinthians 16:13 ... Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.
Ephesians 6:11 ... Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

Stand ...
2 Timothy 2:3 ... Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.

Occupy ...
Luke 19:13 ... And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them Occupy till I come

2 Corinthians 10:5 ... Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.

Great Commission
(Jesus' command that reaffirmed the Cultural and Dominion Mandates)

... And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto Me in heaven and in earth.  Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you:  and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world.  Amen.  (Matthew 18:18-20)

Cultural Mandate
(what God said to Adam and Eve)

And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth. (Genesis 1:28)

Dominion Mandate
(what God said to Noah after the Flood)

... And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth. (Genesis 9:1)
