Presidents' Day Activities

George Washington needs you to make an advertising pamphlet telling why American citizens should have a president and not a king.  This pamphlet should be quick, to the point, not wordy and with colorful pictures.

To the tune of Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, create lyrics that emphasize the meaning of being a Christian American.

Write a letter to President George Bush and let him know you appreciate all the hard work he is doing for our country.  Let him know that you and your family are praying for him to have wisdom, guidance, direction and protection.

Pssssssssssssssssssttttttttttttt ... hey you ... yes YOU !  President Washington needs you to do a 30-60 second radio spot that is lively, quick and will compel folks to take their American citizenship seriously.  Have your immediate supervisor (your parents) review your audiotape before giving it to President Washington to make sure you have everything in order.

John Paul Jones, the Father of the American Navy, has asked me to have you either draw pictures or quickly write how soldiers and sailors serve President Washington and succeeding presidents by their service.

Presidents' Day Community Activities
(civics)

Visit a geriatric facility (hopefully with plenty of veterans) with a group of children and youth having them dress in red, white, and blue.  Sing patriotic songs, Christian tunes, and, perhaps, have some of the children/youth play instruments. Use red, white and blue folders for any music and poems the children/youth perform.  Hand out small flags to each person in the audience.  Be sure to thank any veterans or wives/family members of veterans for their sacrifice to serve our country! Many remember the elderly in geriatric facilities during Christmas, but tend to be forgetful throughout the rest of the year. Try it!  I bet you will be well received!
