Listen to Alexander Scourby read it !
1 ¶ O give thanks
unto the LORD; for He is good: for His mercy endureth for
ever.
2 O give thanks unto the God of gods: for His mercy
endureth for ever.
3 O give thanks to the Lord of lords: for His mercy
endureth for ever.
4 To Him who alone doeth great wonders: for His mercy
endureth for ever.
5 To Him that by wisdom made the heavens: for His
mercy endureth for ever.
6 To Him that stretched out the earth above the waters:
for His mercy endureth for ever.
7 To Him that made great lights: for His mercy endureth
for ever:
8 The sun to rule by day: for His mercy endureth for
ever:
9 The moon and stars to rule by night: for His mercy
endureth for ever.
10 ¶ To Him that smote Egypt in their firstborn:
for His mercy endureth for ever:
11 And brought out Israel from among them: for His
mercy endureth for ever:
12 With a strong hand, and with a stretched out arm: for
His mercy endureth for ever.
13 To Him which divided the Red sea into parts: for
His mercy endureth for ever:
14 And made Israel to pass through the midst of it: for
His mercy endureth for ever:
15 But overthrew Pharaoh and his host in the Red sea:
for His mercy endureth for ever.
16 To Him which led His people through the wilderness: for
His mercy endureth for ever.
17 To Him which smote great kings: for His mercy endureth
for ever:
18 And slew famous kings: for His mercy endureth for
ever:
19 Sihon king of the Amorites: for His mercy endureth
for ever:
20 And Og the king of Bashan: for His mercy endureth
for ever:
21 And gave their land for an heritage: for His mercy
endureth for ever:
22 Even an heritage unto Israel His servant: for His
mercy endureth for ever.
23 ¶ Who remembered us in our low estate: for
His mercy endureth for ever:
24 And hath redeemed us from our enemies: for His
mercy endureth for ever.
25 Who giveth food to all flesh: for His mercy endureth
for ever.
26 O give thanks unto the God of heaven: for His mercy
endureth for ever.
Psalm 145
Listen to Alexander Scourby read it !
1 ¶ David's
Psalm of praise. I will extol Thee, my God, O king; and
I will bless Thy name for ever and ever.
2 Every day will I bless Thee; and I will praise Thy name
for ever and ever.
3 Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; and His
greatness is unsearchable.
4 One generation shall praise Thy works to another, and
shall declare Thy mighty acts.
5 I will speak of the glorious honour of Thy majesty, and
of Thy wondrous works.
6 And men shall speak of the might of Thy terrible acts:
and I will declare Thy greatness.
7 They shall abundantly utter the memory of Thy great goodness,
and shall sing of Thy righteousness.
8 The LORD is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to
anger, and of great mercy.
9 The LORD is good to all: and His tender mercies are over
all His works.
10 ¶ All Thy works shall praise Thee, O LORD; and Thy
saints shall bless Thee.
11 They shall speak of the glory of Thy kingdom, and talk
of Thy power;
12 To make known to the sons of men His mighty acts, and
the glorious majesty of His kingdom.
13 Thy kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and Thy dominion
endureth throughout all generations.
14 The LORD upholdeth all that fall, and raiseth up all
those that be bowed down.
15 The eyes of all wait upon Thee; and Thou givest them
their meat in due season.
16 Thou openest Thine hand, and satisfiest the desire of
every living thing.
17 The LORD is righteous in all His ways, and holy in all
His works.
18 The LORD is nigh unto all them that call upon Him, to
all that call upon Him in truth.
19 He will fulfil the desire of them that fear Him: He
also will hear their cry, and will save them.
20 The LORD preserveth all them that love Him: but
all the wicked will He destroy.
21 My mouth shall speak the praise of the LORD: and
let all flesh bless His holy name for ever and ever.
Psalm 148
Listen to Alexander Scourby read it !
1 ¶ Praise
ye the LORD. Praise ye the LORD from the heavens: praise
Him in the heights.
2 Praise ye Him, all His angels: praise ye Him, all
His hosts.
3 Praise ye Him, sun and moon: praise Him, all ye
stars of light.
4 Praise Him, ye heavens of heavens, and ye waters that
be above the heavens.
5 Let them praise the name of the LORD: for He commanded,
and they were created.
6 He hath also stablished them for ever and ever: He
hath made a decree which shall not pass.
7 ¶ Praise the LORD from the earth, ye dragons, and
all deeps:
8 Fire, and hail; snow, and vapour; stormy wind fulfilling
His word:
9 Mountains, and all hills; fruitful trees, and all cedars:
10 Beasts, and all cattle; creeping things, and flying fowl:
11 Kings of the earth, and all people; princes, and all
judges of the earth:
12 Both young men, and maidens; old men, and children:
13 Let them praise the name of the LORD: for His name
alone is excellent; His glory is above the earth and heaven.
14 He also exalteth the horn of His people, the praise of
all His saints; even of the children of Israel, a people near
unto Him. Praise ye the LORD.
Psalm 149
Listen to Alexander Scourby read it !
1 ¶ Praise
ye the LORD. Sing unto the LORD a new song, and His praise
in the congregation of saints.
2 Let Israel rejoice in Him that made him: let the
children of Zion be joyful in their King.
3 Let them praise His name in the dance: let them
sing praises unto Him with the timbrel and harp.
4 For the LORD taketh pleasure in His people: He will
beautify the meek with salvation.
5 Let the saints be joyful in glory: let them sing
aloud upon their beds.
6 ¶ Let the high praises of God be in their mouth,
and a twoedged sword in their hand;
7 To execute vengeance upon the heathen, and punishments
upon the people;
8 To bind their kings with chains, and their nobles with
fetters of iron;
9 To execute upon them the judgment written: this
honour have all His saints. Praise ye the LORD.
Psalm 150
Listen to Alexander Scourby read it !
1 ¶ Praise
ye the LORD. Praise God in His sanctuary: praise Him
in the firmament of His power.
2 Praise Him for His mighty acts: praise Him according to
His excellent greatness.
3 Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet: praise
Him with the psaltery and harp.
4 Praise Him with the timbrel and dance: praise Him
with stringed instruments and organs.
5 Praise Him upon the loud cymbals: praise Him upon
the high sounding cymbals.
6 Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD.
Praise ye the LORD.
Psalm 30
Listen to Alexander Scourby read it !
1 ¶ A Psalm and Song at the dedication of the
house of David. I will extol Thee, O LORD; for Thou hast
lifted me up, and hast not made my foes to rejoice over me.
2 O LORD my God, I cried unto Thee, and Thou hast
healed me.
3 O LORD, Thou hast brought up my soul from the grave:
Thou hast kept me alive, that I should not go down to the
pit.
4 Sing unto the LORD, O ye saints of His, and give
thanks at the remembrance of His holiness.
5 For His anger endureth but a moment; in His favour
is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh
in the morning.
6 ¶ And in my prosperity I said, I shall never
be moved.
7 LORD, by Thy favour Thou hast made my mountain to
stand strong: Thou didst hide Thy face, and I was troubled.
8 I cried to Thee, O LORD; and unto the LORD I made
supplication.
9 What profit is there in my blood, when I go down
to the pit? Shall the dust praise Thee? shall it declare
Thy truth?
10 Hear, O LORD, and have mercy upon me: LORD,
be Thou my helper.
11 Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing:
Thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness;
12 To the end that my glory may sing praise to Thee,
and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks unto
Thee for ever.
Psalm 67
Listen to Alexander Scourby read it !
1 ¶ To the chief Musician on Neginoth, A Psalm or Song.
God be merciful unto us, and bless us; and cause His face
to shine upon us; Selah.
2 That Thy way may be known upon earth, Thy saving health
among all nations.
3 Let the people praise Thee, O God; let all the people
praise Thee.
4 O let the nations be glad and sing for joy: for
Thou shalt judge the people righteously, and govern the nations
upon earth. Selah.
5 Let the people praise Thee, O God; let all the people
praise Thee.
6 Then shall the earth yield her increase; and God, even
our own God, shall bless us.
7 God shall bless us; and all the ends of the earth shall
fear Him.
Psalm 65
Listen to Alexander Scourby read it !
1 ¶ To the chief
Musician, A Psalm and Song of David. Praise waiteth for
Thee, O God, in Sion: and unto Thee shall the vow be performed.
2 O Thou that hearest prayer, unto Thee shall all flesh
come.
3 Iniquities prevail against me: as for our transgressions,
Thou shalt purge them away.
4 Blessed is the man whom Thou choosest, and causest to
approach unto Thee, that he may dwell in Thy courts: we
shall be satisfied with the goodness of Thy house, even of Thy
holy temple.
5 By terrible things in righteousness wilt Thou answer us,
O God of our salvation; who art the confidence of all the ends
of the earth, and of them that are afar off upon the sea:
6 ¶ Which by His strength setteth fast the mountains;
being girded with power:
7 Which stilleth the noise of the seas, the noise of their
waves, and the tumult of the people.
8 They also that dwell in the uttermost parts are afraid
at Thy tokens: Thou makest the outgoings of the morning
and evening to rejoice.
9 Thou visitest the earth, and waterest it: Thou greatly
enrichest it with the river of God, which is full of water: Thou
preparest them corn, when thou hast so provided for it.
10 Thou waterest the ridges thereof abundantly: Thou
settlest the furrows thereof: Thou makest it soft with showers:
Thou blessest the springing thereof.
11 Thou crownest the year with Thy goodness; andTthy paths
drop fatness.
12 They drop upon the pastures of the wilderness: and
the little hills rejoice on every side.
13 The pastures are clothed with flocks; the valleys also
are covered over with corn; they shout for joy, they also sing.
Psalm 92
Listen to Alexander Scourby read it !
1 ¶ A Psalm or Song
for the sabbath day. It is a good thing to give thanks unto
the LORD, and to sing praises unto Thy name, O most High:
2 To shew forth Thy lovingkindness in the morning, and Thy
faithfulness every night,
3 Upon an instrument of ten strings, and upon the psaltery;
upon the harp with a solemn sound.
4 For Thou, LORD, hast made me glad through Thy work: I
will triumph in the works of Thy hands.
5 O LORD, how great are Thy works! and Thy thoughts are
very deep.
6 A brutish man knoweth not; neither doth a fool understand
this.
7 ¶ When the wicked spring as the grass, and when all
the workers of iniquity do flourish; it is that they shall be
destroyed for ever:
8 But Thou, LORD, art most high for evermore.
9 For, lo, Thine enemies, O LORD, for, lo, Thine enemies
shall perish; all the workers of iniquity shall be scattered.
10 But my horn shalt Thou exalt like the horn of an unicorn:
I shall be anointed with fresh oil.
11 Mine eye also shall see my desire on mine enemies, and
mine ears shall hear my desire of the wicked that rise up against
me.
12 The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he
shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
13 Those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall
flourish in the courts of our God.
14 They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall
be fat and flourishing;
15 To shew that the LORD is upright: He is my rock,
and there is no unrighteousness in Him.
Psalm 100
Listen to Alexander Scourby read it !
1 ¶ A Psalm of praise.
Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands.
2 Serve the LORD with gladness: come before His presence
with singing.
3 Know ye that the LORD He is God: it is He that hath
made us, and not we ourselves; we are His people, and the sheep
of His pasture.
4 Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts
with praise: be thankful unto Him, and bless His name.
5 For the LORD is good; His mercy is everlasting; and His
truth endureth to all generations.
Psalm 98
Listen to Alexander Scourby read it !
1 ¶ A Psalm. O
sing unto the LORD a new song; for He hath done marvellous things:
His right hand, and His holy arm, hath gotten Him the victory.
2 The LORD hath made known His salvation: His righteousness
hath He openly shewed in the sight of the heathen.
3 He hath remembered His mercy and His truth toward the
house of Israel: all the ends of the earth have seen the
salvation of our God.
4 ¶ Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all the earth:
make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise.
5 Sing unto the LORD with the harp; with the harp, and the
voice of a psalm.
6 With trumpets and sound of cornet make a joyful noise
before the LORD, the King.
7 Let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof; the world,
and they that dwell therein.
8 Let the floods clap their hands: let the hills be
joyful together
9 Before the LORD; for He cometh to judge the earth:
with righteousness shall He judge the world, and the people with
equity.
Psalm 111
Listen to Alexander Scourby read it !
1 ¶ Praise ye the
LORD. I will praise the LORD with my whole heart, in the
assembly of the upright, and in the congregation.
2 The works of the LORD are great, sought out of all them
that have pleasure therein.
3 His work is honourable and glorious: and His righteousness
endureth for ever.
4 He hath made His wonderful works to be remembered: the
LORD is gracious and full of compassion.
5 He hath given meat unto them that fear Him: He will
ever be mindful of His covenant.
6 ¶ He hath shewed His people the power of His works,
that He may give them the heritage of the heathen.
7 The works of His hands are verity and judgment; all His
commandments are sure.
8 They stand fast for ever and ever, and are done in truth
and uprightness.
9 He sent redemption unto His people: He hath commanded
His covenant for ever: holy and reverend is His name.
10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a
good understanding have all they that do His commandments: His
praise endureth for ever.
Psalm 103
Listen to Alexander Scourby read it !
1 ¶ A Psalm of David.
Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within
me, bless His holy name.
2 Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits:
3 Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all Thy
diseases;
4 Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth
thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;
5 Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy
youth is renewed like the eagle's.
6 ¶ The LORD executeth righteousness and judgment for
all that are oppressed.
7 He made known His ways unto Moses, His acts unto the children
of Israel.
8 The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and
plenteous in mercy.
9 He will not always chide: neither will He keep His
anger for ever.
10 He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded
us according to our iniquities.
11 For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is
His mercy toward them that fear Him.
12 As far as the east is from the west, so far hath He removed
our transgressions from us.
13 Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth
them that fear Him.
14 For He knoweth our frame; He remembereth that we are
dust.
15 As for man, His days are as grass: as a flower
of the field, so he flourisheth.
16 For the wind passeth over it, and it is gone; and the
place thereof shall know it no more.
17 But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting
upon them that fear Him, and His righteousness unto children's
children;
18 To such as keep His covenant, and to those that remember
His commandments to do them.
19 ¶ The LORD hath prepared His throne in the heavens;
and His kingdom ruleth over all.
20 Bless the LORD, ye His angels, that excel in strength,
that do His commandments, hearkening unto the voice of His word.
21 Bless ye the LORD, all ye His hosts; ye ministers of
His, that do His pleasure.
22 Bless the LORD, all His works in all places of His dominion:
bless the LORD, O my soul.
Psalm 107
Listen to Alexander Scourby read it !
1 ¶ O give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good: for his
mercy endureth for ever.
2 Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom he hath redeemed from
the hand of the enemy;
3 And gathered them out of the lands, from the east, and from
the west, from the north, and from the south.
4 They wandered in the wilderness in a solitary way; they found
no city to dwell in.
5 Hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted in them.
6 Then they cried unto the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered
them out of their distresses.
7 And he led them forth by the right way, that they might go to
a city of habitation.
8 Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for
his wonderful works to the children of men!
9 For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul
with goodness.
10 ¶ Such as sit in darkness and in the shadow of death,
being bound in affliction and iron;
11 Because they rebelled against the words of God, and contemned
the counsel of the most High:
12 Therefore he brought down their heart with labour; they fell
down, and there was none to help.
13 Then they cried unto the LORD in their trouble, and he saved
them out of their distresses.
14 He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and
brake their bands in sunder.
15 Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for
his wonderful works to the children of men!
16 For he hath broken the gates of brass, and cut the bars of
iron in sunder.
17 ¶ Fools because of their transgression, and because of
their iniquities, are afflicted.
18 Their soul abhorreth all manner of meat; and they draw near
unto the gates of death.
19 Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he saveth
them out of their distresses.
20 He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from
their destructions.
21 Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for
his wonderful works to the children of men!
22 And let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and
declare his works with rejoicing.
23 ¶ They that go down to the sea in ships, that do business
in great waters;
24 These see the works of the LORD, and his wonders in the deep.
25 For he commandeth, and raiseth the stormy wind, which lifteth
up the waves thereof.
26 They mount up to the heaven, they go down again to the depths:
their soul is melted because of trouble.
27 They reel to and fro, and stagger like a drunken man, and are
at their wits' end.
28 Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he bringeth
them out of their distresses.
29 He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still.
30 Then are they glad because they be quiet; so he bringeth them
unto their desired haven.
31 Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for
his wonderful works to the children of men!
32 Let them exalt him also in the congregation of the people,
and praise him in the assembly of the elders.
33 ¶ He turneth rivers into a wilderness, and the watersprings
into dry ground;
34 A fruitful land into barrenness, for the wickedness of them
that dwell therein.
35 He turneth the wilderness into a standing water, and dry ground
into watersprings.
36 And there he maketh the hungry to dwell, that they may prepare
a city for habitation;
37 And sow the fields, and plant vineyards, which may yield fruits
of increase.
38 He blesseth them also, so that they are multiplied greatly;
and suffereth not their cattle to decrease.
39 Again, they are minished and brought low through oppression,
affliction, and sorrow.
40 He poureth contempt upon princes, and causeth them to wander
in the wilderness, where there is no way.
41 Yet setteth he the poor on high from affliction, and maketh
him families like a flock.
42 The righteous shall see it, and rejoice: and all iniquity shall
stop her mouth.
43 Whoso is wise, and will observe these things, even they shall
understand the lovingkindness of the LORD.
Psalm 116
Listen to Alexander Scourby read it !
1 ¶ I love the LORD, because
he hath heard my voice and my supplications.
2 Because he hath inclined his ear unto me, therefore will I call
upon him as long as I live.
3 The sorrows of death compassed me, and the pains of hell gat
hold upon me: I found trouble and sorrow.
4 Then called I upon the name of the LORD; O LORD, I beseech thee,
deliver my soul.
5 Gracious is the LORD, and righteous; yea, our God is merciful.
6 The LORD preserveth the simple: I was brought low, and he helped
me.
7 Return unto thy rest, O my soul; for the LORD hath dealt bountifully
with thee.
8 For thou hast delivered my soul from death, mine eyes from tears,
and my feet from falling.
9 I will walk before the LORD in the land of the living.
10 ¶ I believed, therefore have I spoken: I was greatly afflicted:
11 I said in my haste, All men are liars.
12 What shall I render unto the LORD for all his benefits toward
me?
13 I will take the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of
the LORD.
14 I will pay my vows unto the LORD now in the presence of all
his people.
15 Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.
16 O LORD, truly I am thy servant; I am thy servant, and the son
of thine handmaid: thou hast loosed my bonds.
17 I will offer to thee the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and will
call upon the name of the LORD.
18 I will pay my vows unto the LORD now in the presence of all
his people,
19 In the courts of the LORD'S house, in the midst of thee, O
Jerusalem. Praise ye the LORD.
Psalm 134
Listen to Alexander Scourby read it !
1 ¶ A Song of degrees.
Behold, bless ye the LORD, all ye servants of the LORD, which
by night stand in the house of the LORD.
2 Lift up your hands in the sanctuary, and bless the LORD.
3 The LORD that made heaven and earth bless thee out of Zion.
Psalm 138
Listen to Alexander Scourby read it !
1 ¶ A Psalm of David. I
will praise thee with my whole heart: before the gods will
I sing praise unto thee.
2 I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for
thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified
thy word above all thy name.
3 In the day when I cried thou answeredst me, and strengthenedst
me with strength in my soul.
4 All the kings of the earth shall praise thee, O LORD, when they
hear the words of thy mouth.
5 Yea, they shall sing in the ways of the LORD: for great
is the glory of the LORD.
6 ¶ Though the LORD be high, yet hath he respect unto the
lowly: but the proud he knoweth afar off.
7 Though I walk in the midst of trouble, thou wilt revive me:
thou shalt stretch forth thine hand against the wrath of
mine enemies, and thy right hand shall save me.
8 The LORD will perfect that which concerneth me: thy mercy,
O LORD, endureth for ever: forsake not the works of thine
own hands.
Psalm 147
Listen to Alexander Scourby read it !
1 ¶ Praise ye the LORD:
for it is good to sing praises unto our God; for it is pleasant;
and praise is comely.
2 The LORD doth build up Jerusalem: he gathereth together the
outcasts of Israel.
3 He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.
4 He telleth the number of the stars; he calleth them all by their
names.
5 Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding
is infinite.
6 The LORD lifteth up the meek: he casteth the wicked down
to the ground.
7 Sing unto the LORD with thanksgiving; sing praise upon the harp
unto our God:
8 Who covereth the heaven with clouds, who prepareth rain for
the earth, who maketh grass to grow upon the mountains.
9 He giveth to the beast his food, and to the young ravens which
cry.
10 He delighteth not in the strength of the horse: he taketh
not pleasure in the legs of a man.
11 The LORD taketh pleasure in them that fear him, in those that
hope in his mercy.
12 ¶ Praise the LORD, O Jerusalem; praise thy God, O Zion.
13 For he hath strengthened the bars of thy gates; he hath blessed
thy children within thee.
14 He maketh peace in thy borders, and filleth thee with the finest
of the wheat.
15 He sendeth forth his commandment upon earth: his word
runneth very swiftly.
16 He giveth snow like wool: he scattereth the hoarfrost
like ashes.
17 He casteth forth his ice like morsels: who can stand
before his cold?
18 He sendeth out his word, and melteth them: he causeth
his wind to blow, and the waters flow.
19 He sheweth his word unto Jacob, his statutes and his judgments
unto Israel.
20 He hath not dealt so with any nation: and as for his
judgments, they have not known them. Praise ye the LORD.
