Throughout the booklists, you will find either Stirling Bridge and/or Cliff Notes behind the title. This will let you know that a teacher's manual is readily avilable. Be sure to hit your refresh or reload button often as we will continually update the list with Stirling Bridge.
Stirling Bridge
Dr. George Grant, the gentleman most of you are familiar with for his enlightening book review articles in World Magazine, has graciously consented to our citing various volumes from his Stirling Bridge newsletter for this project. The Stirling Bridge Reading Program is "a simple at-home guided reading plan through some of the most significant books of Western Christendom." Stirling Bridge explores various titles that you will see listed under Classic Books. These articulate articles will present the themes and other concerns of note from a Christian worldview perspective.
To obtain specific notes, write or e-mail:
Back Issues: $3 per issue (includes postage)
Regular Stirling Bridge Subscription: $25
Full Stirling Bridge Subscription: $70
Having trouble obtaining some of these books? Tired of the hassel of book store clerks that look as if you have sprouted a third head when asking for the good books and authors?
Stirling Bridge readers will be delighted to know that books reviewed in this newsletter may be obtained from Stirling Bridge via an arrangement with Standfast Books and Greyfriars Press --- independent literary services that supply curriculum for Bannockburn College, Franklin Classical School, King's Meadow Study Center and the Covenant Classical School Association.
Cliff Notes
Cliff Notes, although not from a Christian worldview perspective, are a good teacher's manual for parents as it gives a story synopsis, background, notes about the author, character profiles, a discussion of style, symbolism used, maps/family trees (when needed), review questions, theme/topic suggestions, and bibliographies. Obviously, Cliff Notes will require parents to correct the humanistic worldview presuppositions.
To obtain specific Cliff Notes, check your local Barnes & Nobles, Borders or other book sellers in your area. Also, do not neglect the internet's Amazon bookstore. Be sure to obtain your homeschooler's discount! If you would care to contact Cliff Notes yourself, the address is:
