Special Note:
There are many poems in the above selections that you may not like or even enjoy as the author of the poem may have an opposing worldview.  However, it is important that your scholar be exposed to the poem by those that can at least do justice to the piece.  All to often when reading poetry aloud that I absolutely cannot stand in our homeschooling endeavors, the poem tends to drip with sarcasm.  It is much better that your scholars and mine at least hear the poem the way it was intended to be recited before you begin to analyze the faulty reasoning processes of the poet.  Moreover, these poems may spark many lively discussions at the family evening meal preparing your scholar to calmly and intelligently meet questions that may arise in the future.

For more help in analyzing poetry, be sure to review the Poetry Section.  There are many worksheets in that section that will aid your scholar.
